Debbie Hickey, from Kisker Road Library Outreach Program, visited EC Central School Road on Wednesday, Nov. 8 and Thursday, Nov. 9 to read to our students. Everyone was excited to hear her stories and participate in the activities. Please remember to read with your child daily, as well as fill out and return your monthly reading sheet. EC Central School Road Holds Third Annual Family Fall Festival

On Thursday, Oct. 26, the Early Childhood Center at Central School Road held their third annual Family Fall Festival, from 5:00 to 6:30 PM. Over 114 families and 201 children were in attendance. Families were encouraged to dress in their Halloween costumes and Cindy's Petting Zoo set up on the front parking lot for the children to enjoy. Fall themed activities were held in all the classrooms and broomstick limbo was made available on the playground. On Monday, Oct. 2 and Tuesday, Oct. 3, members of the Cottleville Fire Department visited Early Childhood Central School Road to conduct a fire safety presentation. After the presentation, students were given the opportunity to go outside on the parking lot and board a "real" fire truck. During Grandparent’s Week (Sept. 5-8), Early Childhood Central School Road preschool families and staff honored our veterans by collecting spare change to benefit the Honor Flight Program. Students put their spare change into a jar in the lobby of our building. Together students and staff collected $320.00 for the Honor Flight Program. Inspire Program Debuts in FHSD – and Inspires Success for All

Francis Howell School District prides itself on being innovative when it comes to advancements in education, as well as advancements in caring for the social emotional health of students. The Inspire Program is a FHSD-led initiative that hopes to help schools develop the capacity to meet the needs of all students, staff, and families, focusing on those experiencing significant challenges with emotional regulation and other mental health needs. Early Childhood Central School Road is hosting their Annual Scholastic Book Fair on Tuesday, Sept. 5 to Friday, Sept. 8, during school hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. This year, the fair has a Wild West theme and is being held during Grandparent’s Week! Parents and grandparents are invited to purchase books for their children and grandchildren at the fair. Early Childhood Central School Road hosted their annual Curriculum Night and Ice Cream Social on the playground on Tuesday, Aug. 22, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Over forty-seven preschool families joined our staff for an evening of fun while learning what goes on during a typical day at preschool. Francis Howell School District is always looking for ways to save taxpayer dollars and still improve convenience for parents and students. Both goals are achieved with the Peachjar flyer distribution system. FHSD delivers school information and approved flyers from community organizations electronically through Peachjar. Niche has just released its 2018 list of best Schools in America, and has ranked the Francis Howell School District No. 16 in Missouri. New Activity Fees and Changes to High School Activity Transportation

The FHSD Board of Education has approved the recommendation of the Extracurricular Task Force to establish an activity fee structure for the 2017-18 school year. Students participating in a sport, activity, or club - in which a sponsor or coach is paid a stipend - will be required to pay a yearly activity fee. Students will be assessed one fee regardless of how many sports/activities/clubs they participate in during the school year. The Francis Howell School District (FHSD) is a busy place year-round, and not just during the school year. There are more than 2,000 employees in the District, and almost 20 percent of them work a 12-month schedule. “The District does not shut down over the summer,” said FHSD Superintendent Dr. Mary Hendricks-Harris, “quite the contrary. Educating 18,000 students is a year-round, full-time job. In addition to preparing the high quality education our students deserve for 2017-18, we have also started working on our next five-year strategic plan, and our community will have the opportunity to be part of that process this fall.”   Read more about What Happens in FHSD Over the Summer?

On May 11, 2016, a severe thunderstorm with large hail caused significant damage throughout the Francis Howell School District. Early Childhood Central School Road Collects Pajamas for St. Louis Children’s Hospital

The Early Childhood Center at Central School Road believes it’s never too early to start teaching the importance of helping others. The Center recently held a pajama drive, one that has become an annual event because of its popularity. Between Jan. 9 and Jan. 27, students, parents, and staff donated pajamas for kids at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. The Francis Howell School District is set to begin preschool registration for the 2017-18 school year. Francis Howell has a quality preschool program that provides excellent social and pre-academic experiences for your children. The students at Early Childhood Central School Road were treated to a “Thanksgiving Feast” on Monday, November 21 and Tuesday, November 22. Students gathered in the multi-purpose room, and were given the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of foods to share with their classmates in the spirit of giving thanks for their friends, as well as celebrating the historical aspect of the Pilgrims and Native Americans at Thanksgiving.  Read more about Early Childhood Central School Road Gives Thanks

The students at EC Central School Road enjoyed a visit from the Cottleville Fire Department on Monday, Oct. 3, and Tuesday, Oct. 4. The firemen came to talk to our students about fire safety and prevention. The students were able to sit inside the fire truck too! October is National Fire Safety and Prevention month. At EC Central School Road we have four fire drills per classroom every year. New FHSD Safety Measures Include Unannounced Intruder Drills

Student safety is always a top priority of the Francis Howell School District (FHSD). The District annually conducts a variety of safety drills including fire, tornado, earthquake and intruder drills. Participation in these safety drills is where most students get directly involved in their own safety. EC Celebrates Successful "Book-a-Neer" Pirate Book Fair

We would like to thank all of our parents and grandparents for making our Grandparents’ Week and Scholastic “Book-a-Neer” Pirate Book Fair so successful! Our preschool students really enjoyed having their grandparent’s join us for snack and classroom activities. The “Book-a-Neer” Pirate Book Fair was our most successful to date! As a result of your generosity—there were 822 books sold—which equates to 147,960 reading minutes for our students and we earned over $1,000 in cash and Scholastic Dollars for our school!   Read more about EC Celebrates Successful "Book-a-Neer" Pirate Book Fair
