What is PALS?
PALS is a parent led group whose vision is to provide social opportunities for families with young children. These opportunities will enrich and enhance the early childhood programs offered by the Francis Howell School District. We support the Parents as Teachers (PAT) program and Francis Howell preschool programming: teachers, students and patrons. PALS organizes social events, themed playtimes, Parent’s Night Outs, family outings, and group ticket rates for events at local venues and attractions. We also offer playgroup placement for families with children in a similar age-group. Our guiding principles are community building, collaboration, and respect for every family and to foster positive home-school relationships. Click here for more information on PALS.
What do PALS members do?
Host themed playtimes at the Early Childhood Centers for children ages 0-5 to interact and learn.
Hold socials throughout the year - including a Spooktakular Fall Festival, Winter Social, Bunny Brunch & Egg Hunt, Family Camp-Out, Bedtime Story/PJ Party, and Pee-Wee Prom.
Meet for Parent’s Night Out events – such as dinner at restaurants, cookie exchanges, and a variety of other activities.
Organize group rates for outings, special events, and area attractions- such as Disney on Ice and STL Blues tickets at Scottrade Center, apple picking at Eckert’s, and family day at the MO Botanical Garden.
Support our local community by having food and book drives.
Fund the PALS Helping Hands Hardship Assistance Scholarship for preschool families who are experiencing an unexpected financial crisis.
We have contributed to the FHSD Preschool Scholarship Fund.
Who can join PALS?
Anyone that is a resident of the Francis Howell School District OR actively participates in one of the district’s early childhood programs can join!
Why should I become a member? How much does it cost?
The fee for joining PALS for the 2016-17 school year is $12 for one year or $22 for two years. This fee covers your entire family. Some of our events are open to the district and others are for members only. Joining ensures you can participate in all of our events and outings. It also allows you to receive a discount for most of our paid events that are open to the district. One of the best benefits of becoming a member is that you can join a playgroup!
