Three year olds show their emerging ability to follow rules and routines by:

  • Following simple classroom rules
  • Putting items in the trash after snack
  • Keeping materials in the sensory table with only a few reminders
  • Assisting a friend in putting items away during clean up
  • Standing in line to wait for their turn.


Four year olds show their acceptance and understanding of rules and routines:

  • Independently going to the circle area after clean up
  • Turning of the tape recorder after listening to a story
  • Washing hands before snack.
