Developmental Screening

Is your child entering kindergarten in the 2020-21 school year? If you have a child starting school in August 2020 and your child has not had a screening this school year, it is time to schedule a developmental screening.

FHSD provides a free developmental screening for 3-5 year-olds. It is recommended that all children be screened yearly, beginning at age 3 and continuing through their kindergarten enrollment. The screening is intended to help parents determine the areas of experience that would best help prepare their child for school, to provide an opportunity to have intervention where indicated in the screening, and to provide the District with valuable information on the best possible education for your child. This free screening examines three areas of development: motor skills, concepts, and language. Children will also have the opportunity to have their vision and hearing screened.

If your child attends one of our early childhood family education centers, you may schedule this screening as a part of their preschool day. Please contact your school office to arrange the appointment. All other children are screened at the Early Childhood Centers located at Meadows Parkway or Hackmann Road. To schedule an appointment for your child’s developmental screening, please call one of the following Early Childhood Family Education Centers:

Hackmann Road at 636-851-6200

Meadows Parkway at 636-851-6000

Kindergarten registration for the 2020-21 school year begins in February.
